Wesley Methodist Church, Queens Road, Reading, Berkshire, RG1 4BW
Welcome to Wesley!

Wesley Church
We are an active, multi-national congregation of about 120 from a wide range of backgrounds. People from some 15 countries worship with us. There is a wide age range, including many that have been attending since childhood. On Sunday mornings we have our main family worship time, with an opportunity to meet over coffee afterwards. Sunday evening services tend to be contemplative in nature. [See Worship]

We have a thriving Junior Church, with ages from 0 to 18, and share with other East Reading churches in joint youth activities. [See Youth]

Wesley is a friendly church with worship and fellowship at its centre, where all are made welcome. Small groups for fellowship, Bible study, prayer and church life development meet regularly. [See Groups]

Our building
Wesley is near the town centre, in the heart of both the old commercial and residential parts of Reading. The church, built in 1873, is a listed building in the traditional style and a landmark in the town. In 1997/8 it was refurbished and given a major extension. The exterior was cleaned, enhancing the decorative masonry, and the interior was repainted. A new welcome area with coffee bar was built, sensitively complementing the church’s architecture, and the existing ancillary rooms were added to and improved. The acoustic of the sanctuary is excellent, especially for choirs, and it has a Forster & Andrews organ built in 1874 and refurbished in 1999. The church is often used for concerts, and most rooms are available for hire [See Community]. For first-time visitors there is always a 'wow' factor when they see the interior of the church.
